My name is Caleb Chihota, I was born on the 7th of June 1969 in Zimbabwe.I finished my high school education in 1987 and would not further my education due to lack of money and had to look after my ailing Grandmother.In April 1988,I joined a shipping,freight fowarding company and customs clearing company as a messenger despite having passed my ordinary levels because of hardwork I moved up the corporate ladder in the company and in November 1990,I was promoted to Assistant Operations Manager.
In January 1991,together with my two friends,we established our own shipping and forwarding company called Bateleur Shipping (Private) Limited. The company grew from one office to three offices in Zimbabwe and from a staff compliment of 2 to 20 people.I relocated to South Africa in March 2009 and May 2009 established African Mogul Logistics CC,a global supply chain management company.
Besides business in 1994,I was appointed Secretary-General of the Affirmative Action Group (AAG), black economic empowerment organization in Zimbabwe.And 1995,I founded the Zimbabwe Indigenous Freight Forwarders Association (Z.I.F.F.A),an association which represents indigenous operators who were systematically excluded from participating in the shipping and forwarding sector.
Through my many years in business,I have had my successes and my fair share of failures and disappointments and have learnt a lot from them.This is what now motivates me to pass on to other fellow Africans the rich experiences accumulated over the past two decades and inspire particularly the young to reach for the sky,because the sky is the limit.
My role is simply to convince you that you have the power to consciously effect a revolution in your mind to be the best in whatever it is that you do.
Africa today has abundance of every mineral resource that one can think of,offers the highest GDP growth potential than any continent yet it is referred to as the poorest. What Africa needs today is the placing of employment creation as the highest priority and this can only happen by establishing new and sustainable employment creating business ventures.
You are the one who is standing between you and goal in life.It does not matter where you were born or the type of family you were born into,what matters most in life are the decisions that we make or refuse to make.
The reason why so many people do not want to venture out,start their own businesses,is because of FEAR of failure.Many people are very afraid of moving beyond their comfort zone,because they do not want to risk failure.It is important for people to realize that,life by it's nature is full of ups and downs,we fail in life because we have made mistakes and since we are human indeed we make mistakes.
However,the difference is that,whilst some people grow through failures,others never recover from it.We must use our failures not as stumbling blocks but as stepping stones.What I have gone through in my short life qualifies me to share with you whatever it is,I will be sharing with you on this journey we are walking together.
